Over the past few weeks, the West-Indian Ocean has experienced a period of elevated water temperatures. In Diani, our dive computers showed temperatures hitting the 30ºC mark, which is a known thermal threshold for many coral species. While most of our coral nursery site remains stable, this heat has confronted our team with the devastating impact of thermal stress on our newly outplanted colonies. The first quarter of 2026 has been a busy period for our Reef Ranger team. Their main activity was the outplanting of over 500 coral colonies . These were moved from the Swahili nurseries and secured onto the 75 coated metal cages  we deployed on the reef late last year. We are pleased to share that ReefoDivers Diani has officially been recognised as a PADI Educational Facility  and is now listed here on the PADI website. This recognition confirms that our dive centre meets PADI’s international training standards and is authorised to offer certified PADI courses and (distinctive) specialty programmes. It also makes it easier for divers, students, and partners to find us directly through the global PADI platform. As a PADI Educational Facilit
